A monthly grown-up & me science adventure where young minds and curious families explore, build, and discover—together.

Family STEAM invites young children and their grown-ups to dive into a world of science, creativity, and wonder—together. Each month, a themed “Mystery Box” kicks off the session, sparking imagination and inviting children to explore hands-on STEAM activities designed just for their age group.

Whether it's making simple machines, testing chemical reactions, or building with everyday objects, this class turns curiosity into joyful learning and exploration for the whole family.

What To Expect

  • Monthly themed STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)

  • Hands-on, play-based experiments designed for ages 0–5, their older siblings, and grown-ups alike!

  • Group discovery time + independent exploration

  • “Mystery Box” reveal to spark engagement during the session

  • Led by a dynamic early childhood expert and family life educator with a passion for science!

  • Designed for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, siblings and multi-age families to learn side-by-side

Scheduling and Pricing

  • Summer Classes: This class occurs during the school year from October through June

  • Select Sundays from 10:30am to 11:15am at Avis South Shore JCC

  • Priced Per Family: $25 non-JCC members, $20 JCC members

  • No commitment classes. Come to one or come to all!

  • Purchase a class pass online and show it to the instructor when you arrive

  • Extra Savings: Purchase a 6 or 10 class bundle (which can also be used on our other walk-in classes for more fun!)
