JCC Purim Carnival 2024

At the JCC of Staten Island’s Purim Carnival on Sunday March17, 2024, we gathered with both new friends and familiar faces to celebrate this festive occasion and had the opportunity to do a special Happy Day Play class demo!

Purim is marked by lively festivities and acts of kindness. Amidst the festivities, Ms. Kaitlynn and Ms. Nicolette donned butterfly costumes, setting the stage for a learning experience inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Our demo was a kaleidoscope of activities, from a larger-than-life reading of the beloved tale to engaging in physical gross motor skill exercises like crawling around like caterpillars under the parachute. We danced with scarves like butterflies and crafted two colossal sensory pizzas for the very hungry caterpillar to eat.

But the fun didn’t stop there! We delved into STEM concepts, exploring the fascinating life cycle of butterflies, and expanded our horizons by learning greetings in five different languages. Oh, and lots and lots of bubbles!

In just 30 minutes, we journeyed through six diverse subject areas, yet it felt more like a magical escapade than traditional learning. The smiles, laughter, and shared moments created an atmosphere of pure delight.
